The Motorcycle Test is Changing
In October 2008 scooter and motorcycle licence legislation will take a new turn. The Second European Driving Licence Directive, or 2DLD, will come into force and will introduce new elements to motorcycle testing and training such as a new manoeuvring test, which includes the slalom, figure of eight, hazard avoidance and cornering skills. These tests will need take place at 'super test centres', reducing the number of test centres across the UK from 260 current centres to around 60 or 70.
While the new elements to the bike test will help you understand more about the capabilities of your machine, you'll have to wait longer, pay more and perform more difficult tasks to pass the second part of your test. So if you already have your CBT or ever thought about getting on two wheels, go for your full licence now!
